Avocado is the fruit of the avocado tree, scientifically named as Persea Americana. It originated in Mexico and Central America. With the ideal climate and soil conditions, Vietnam is one of the most appropriate area to yield high-quality avocados. This type of fruit is highly appreciated because of its “awesome” nutritional values. Nowadays, avocado has become many people’s favorite fruit. People consider avocado as a super-food because of its high adaptability for usage in breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as dessert.
In fact, avocado has four times more nutrition than any other fruit except banana, which helps prevent diseases and make improvements to the immune system. There are 20 types of vitamins and minerals in an avocado including vitamin B, vitamin K, potassium, copper, vitamin E and C, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, zinc, manganese and selenium.
Avocado is one of the very few types of fruits that do not contain cholesterol, but rich in monounsaturated fat, the type of fat that reduces cholesterol in our body. Moreover, Avocado contains the highest level of protein compared to other fruits, almost equivalent to milk; the low amount of salt, high level of fiber and lutein, a natural carotenoid which helps maintain eyesight and beautiful skin. Especially, chemical compounds in Avocado have an active substance to suppress pre-cancer cells.
